Purpose:
This download provides a graphical test environment
for XPath expressions. It allows the user to load an XML document, enter a
query, and see the resulting match highlighted or value displayed. Version
1.4 uses the XPath engine from the Saxon 6.5 XSLT processor.
Basic Usage:
Run the program and load an XML file. The
"real-time query" setting controls whether the query is evaluated as typed
or only when the [ENTER] key is pressed. To set the context node (the "."
in an XPath expression), click on the desired node in the tree. The
context node is shown in blue with a blue border. To unselect the context
node, i.e., set the context to the root document, click the current
context node.
Note: If you don't already have it installed, you will need a
Java2 virtual machine. If you are running Windows, Linux, or Solaris, you
can download one from Sun
Microsystems.
