Sridhar Hariharaputran joined the PhD program in January 2005. His thesis supervisor is Prof. Ralf Hofestädt at the Bioinformatics/Medical Informatics Department at Bielefeld University.
Prior to joining the PhD program he was working in the lab of Dr. Nagasuma Chandra at Indian Institute of Science , Bangalore, India and at National Centre for Biological Sciences with Dr. Upinder Bhalla, Bangalore, India after obtaining the Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from the University of Madras, Chennai, India.
Research
Thesis focus - Analysis and representation of complex biological data
Signaling pathways play a major role in cellular processes. In short, from cell birth to cell death, involving lot of complexity but functioning with robustness. Sometimes perturbations in these pathways lead to disease such as cancer. His PhD project focuses on the development of new applications such as algorithms for alignment and prediction of biological pathways, developing integrated database information systems and Modeling and simulation of pathways using Petri nets.
Research interests
Sridhar Hariharaputran is interested in Modeling and simulation of biological pathways, Docking studies, Protein structure visualization, Systems biology, Drug design and disease, Chemo informatics, Homology modeling of protein structures, Algorithms and in Data integration and visualization, Petri nets.
