Education in Computer Science and other disciplines can benefit from multimedia applications. At the same time, the process of producing classical media like scripts and slides can be alleviated by modern text processing technologies.
We have enhanced and modernized the script for the introductory course in Computer Science. Slides for the lecture were produced from the same sources, to guarantee synchronized content in both media.
Students of the lecture Foundations of Sequence Analysis can explore two topics with interactive Java applets. The Sequence Alignment Applet shows, how different alignment strategies work and can be influenced by certain parameters. The Suffix Tree Applet demonstrates, how arbitrary strings can be stored in an efficent data structure.
