Scientific findings and methods of informatics are by now an inherent part of modern industrial societies and influence the current natural sciences and humanities to a high degree. The aim of the small minor subject Bachelor in informatics is to impart knowledge of basic concepts of informatics to students which they can use for their major subject (see also Informatics as a minor subject).
Students acquire basic knowledge in the area of object-oriented programming and learn to describe simple problems algorithmically. Based upon these skills, knowledge can be extended to planning and realisation of software projects, databases, or theoretical informatics.
For more information about the structure of studies with small minor subject see studies structure of Bielefeld University.
