Information about public transport in Vienna is here.
Single tickets and 24/48/72 hour tickets (unlimited in the chosen period) for public transport in Vienna can be bought here (one can buy them in advance, indicating the starting date and time of validity).
You can also buy them at ticket machines at most underground stations.
Single tickets can also be bought inside the trams (but not on busses).
The 24/48/72 hour tickets are very convenient if one plans to do a bit more than hotel-uni-hotel with public transport.
Prices are:
- single ticket = 2,40€
- 24h ticket = 8€
- 48h ticket = 14€
- 72h ticket = 17€
Airport-Vienna options:
CAT = 14,90€, departure every 30 minutes (expensive option, not
substantially faster than S7).
- S7 (direction Wien-Mitte) = 4,60€ (2,40€ to reach the core of Vienna + 2,20€ to move in Vienna in a period of 2 hours);
if one already has a ticket for Vienna, then one only needs to pay the 2,40€, because the rest is already covered by the ticket.
Regional train: there are regular regional trains stopping at
Wien-Mitte; the price is the same as with the S7.
S7 and Regional tickets can be bought in the red-yellow machines at the
airport (one enters the beginning and end of the journey into the machines, and then the options will pop up).
