1.27. Waternotifier

Monitors the power consumption of the electric kettle’s power outlet to detect when water is boiled. It will then signal acoustically and visually when the water is ready and announce the electricity consumption for the whole process.

The control room lamp will blink when the water has finished boiling and settle on a color that depends on the power consumed: blue for the amount necessary to boil a single cup, red for the energy cost of the whole 1.7l and a hue in between for intermediate values. After 30s, the color changes back to what it was before displaying the energy consumption.

The blinking is accompanied by a verbal announcement of the power consumed in the control room and a tea kettle sound everywhere.
