FUD wars /fuhd worz/ n.  [from {FUD}] Political
   posturing engaged in by hardware and software vendors ostensibly
   committed to standardization but actually willing to fragment the
   market to protect their own shares.  The UNIX International vs.
   OSF conflict is but one outstanding example.
