Stefan is affiliated with the Artificial Intelligence Group at Bielefeld University and member of the Collaborative Research Center (SFB) 673 "Alignment in Communication" and the Research Institute for Cognition and Robotics. Since Sept 2007, he is member of the governing board and secretary of the German Cognitive Science Society (GK).
During the past years, he has been research fellow in Embodied Communication at Bielefeld's Center for Interdisciplinary Research, postdoctoral fellow at Justine Cassell's ArticuLab at Northwestern University (IL), and member of SFB 360 "Situated Artificial Communicators".
